Contraception that works in harmony with your body. With over 100 scientists Unipath Research is at the forefront of women’s diagnostics, both at home and in the surgery. For over 15 years we have been dedicated to the research and development of Persona. Every element of Persona has undergone extensive testing and passes the most rigorous examination. On most days of the month you don’t need to use a contraceptive. By monitoring changes in your personal hormone levels Persona can tell you when those days are. Persona is made up of simple, disposable urine test sticks and a small hand held monitor. The monitor reads the test sticks, learns about your monthly cylce and gives you contraceptive advice each day. You only need to test 8 days each cycle except for the first cycle when you’re required to test 16 times. Warning: Persona must be used according to the enclosed instructions. Persona offers no protection from sexually transmitted infections or HIV, the virus which causes AIDS. Based on independent trials Persona is 94% reliable when used according to instructions and as the only method of contraception. Persona is only suitable for women whose natural monthly cycle normally lasts between 23-35 days. (calculated from the day one period starts to the day before the next period starts). You must not use Persona if you are breast feeding, have experienced menopausal symptoms are using hormonal treatments (eg hormonal contraception, fertiilty treatments or hormone replacement or hormone replacement therapy), or any other treatments that may affect your cycle, are taking antibiotics containing tetracyclines, (except oxytetracycline and doxycycline which can be used, if you have any doubts about whether the antibiotics you are taking contains tetracyclines, please consult your pharmacist or doctor) or if you have impaired liver or kidney function, or polycystic ovarian syndrome. Persona is not recommended for women for whom pregnancy is totally unacceptable.

This is no means a new form of contraception ,has been around since end of the 90′s .It is a quite boring looking white plastic unit not unlike a flip opening calculator with just a small LED screen with various symbols displayed. LCD readout and the choice of 3 possible lights displayed on the monitor upon opening the catch every morning. Amber days require a test stick , and then its either red and green.

The hand held device will then read urine sticks which come in packs of 8. Starter pack contains 16 of these, as that is how many the first cycle requires.(Most women will require about 4-6 sticks per month so always wise to buy ones with same expiry date and batch number as you are told not to mix batches in case of errors in the computer chip)

It programmes itself around you, to when your cycles are, pinpointing with laboratory accuracy, by a urine stick, if you have ovulated , and displayed therefore a light for the next 24 hours, red for unsafe sex.
